I was raised in a blue collar, middle class family. My father was an immigrant to our wonderful country and worked incredibly hard so that our family never wanted for anything. I attended public school K-12 and subsequently went on to attend college and law school as a first generation college graduate in our family. My education gave me opportunities that I would have otherwise never had, and the teachers and mentors that I had in school shaped my life. I am a champion for education for all children because I know how transformative it can be.
I love Revere. I believe that our school district is an incredibly special place, and the traditions that bring families back time and again to raise new generations here should be celebrated and honored. I have three young children who will all graduate from Revere, and I am deeply invested in the education of all of our district children. I have a constant eye on continuing the excellence for which Revere is known and providing a high quality education for all of our students.
I believe in transparency, and I believe in seeking first-hand information in making decisions and forming opinions. I am proud of the work our current Board has done to increase transparency and access to all of our members. We have overhauled our monthly work sessions to allow for more effective flow of information and dialogue, all five of our Board members are parents of current Revere students and are incredibly accessible, and our Superintendent, Mr. White, has created numerous opportunities for everyone interested to speak with him, including his Listening and Learning tour, his presence in all of our buildings, and his commitment to listening to feedback.
On a personal note, I make my phone number public along with my email address, I am always happy to meet and/or speak with everyone, and I am a consistent presence in our buildings and at district events. We serve over 20,000 people in our school district, and I am proud of the ways in which we balance feedback and opinion(s) from all in order to make informed decisions for everyone.
